Absenteeism and employee sickness can be very costly to all companies. Our goal is to return a sick or injured employee to a productive role in a timely way through a system of care co-ordination provided by our multidisciplinary team.
Our Occupational Health Physicians and nurses assess each employee’s case in a confidential and caring manner during their illness to make a valuable functional assessment of their fitness to resume work. Managers are provided with a clear report containing appropriate information as to how the employee’s health problem impacts on work and how this might be overcome to enable the employee to return safely to work.
Information provided will include details of how long the employee is likely to be absent and what recommendations should be put in place, if any, upon their return to work. The clinician will provide a written report on the outcome of every consultation, aiming to review cases at regular intervals until the employee has resumed productive work or until occupational health is no longer required. In the case of an employee returning to work on a phased basis a case manager will monitor their case until it is closed out.
Our reports will aim to clarify the medical or psychological problem for you and the factors that will help a worker rehabilitate or which prevent a worker from resuming work. We will make recommendations for adjustments and accommodations to help the employee return to work effectively, where this is not possible we will provide advice and guidance on their capability/ employability and eligibility for early ill-health retirement, reporting on any implications concerning disability and the Disability Discrimination Act and other matters which will help you avoid litigation.
We can provide your business with tools and programmes such as The Bradford Factor for quantifying the bottom-line return of investing in occupational health support and reducing the costs associated with absence.
We have delivered a number of successful long term absence management to our existing clients including a Cancer Survivor Programme. We utilise a tool called the Well at Work Absence Model to assist companies track both long and short term absenteeism. The tool is valuable for assessing reasons for frequent short term absence events and often steer the company down the correct root cause for these absence events.
